For an elective this semester I chose to do Senior Project. In this project we were given the freedom to do what ever we wanted as long as we accomplished some kind of goal. In my case, because of my love of fly-fishing, I decided to build a fly rod.

I'm about a month into building it, mixed in with my busy schedule, and its starting to come together. I bought all the parts online and started as soon as they arrived. In the project we are required to have some kind of mentor or someone who has experience in our field of interest of whatever our project might be, and have them guide us along in the process. Luckily for me, an old friend's father has built many fly rods as a hobby and was more than happy to help me out. Our meetings have consisted of me going over to his house, showing certain steps, and then me going home and doing them. Then once I was finished I would meet with him again for the next steps and so on. Now there are only a few steps left, and it looks like a fly rod but needs some touch up here and there, but so far I am very happy as to how it is coming out.
